Tote Design Contest
Science begins with curiosity, and curiosity is joyful.
We’re inviting Rice students to design the featured tote bag for the Natural Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 18.
We’re looking for designs that capture the wonder, surprise, playfulness and excitement of discovery in the natural sciences. Curiosity lives in every corner of science — from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies — and we encourage interpretations that are expressive, imaginative and unexpected.
Your design can be abstract or literal. Bold or minimal. Playful or thought-provoking. This is meant to be creative and fun. Your design does not need to represent specific departments or fields, and should not include the Rice or Natural Sciences logo.
The winning design will be printed in dark blue on a natural canvas tote (9”h x 9.5”w) and handed out to every symposium attendee. The tote will also be used as Natural Sciences swag beyond the event.
Winner receives:
- $100 cash prize
- Feature on Natural Sciences social
- A spotlight “about the designer” card included with the tote
Open to all Rice students (any major).
Multiple submissions allowed.
Submissions must be original, human-created artwork. Generative AI-created imagery is not permitted.
Deadline: March 20 at 11:59 PM.
